They say music is food for the soul, the sound of passion and emotion. It spans across nations, religions, countries, and borders. It does not matter the color of your skin or your age- once the sweet melodies and tones infiltrate the air and vibrate the Earth around us, we become one. We feel over-powered and our bodies move to the rhythm and beat. You just can’t help but smile and feel like everything is OK.
That was apparent this past Sunday, June 26th, at the 74th annual Stern Grove Free Music at the Park concert series. The Association’s goal is a noble one: “providing the people of the Bay Area with admission free access to diverse performing arts.” When Rosalie M. Stern gifted the park to the city of San Francisco 80 years ago she wanted to make sure that The Grove would remain a place for people to come together and enjoy free music and culture. It’s great to know that the festival is still serving that purpose and going strong.
When the Stern Grove Festival Association reached out to us over at El Burrito Express to help feed the artist by donating food it was an easy decision to make because our goals and missions align. Whether it be food or music, both the Stern Grove Festival Association and El Burrito Express aim to bring happiness to the people of the Bay. Our friends, family, and customers have enjoyed The Grove music festivals for countless summers; it has become a part of San Francisco tradition. We were glad to contribute.
Jazz Mafia were a great bunch. From the musical engineer who had been setting a record for “all nighter’s” producing their current album, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, (he ate 3 burritos in a blink of an eye) to the artists as a whole – Jazz Mafia were a group of down to earth, friendly, and talented individuals. And man could they play! The Mafia had everyone on their feet at The Grove, basking in the sun, dancing, singing, and smiling. On top of all that their music has a great message: stand up for your rights as well as what you believe in and love life. The trombonist, Adam Theis, even played while skate boarding on the stage – gnarly!
If felt great that El Burrito Express could contribute to something so special. Food and music to nourish the mind, body and soul.
